Kokum was a dreamer with an insatiable fascination for the birds that graced her village.

Every morning, Kokum would wake up early to watch the birds fluttering through the sky, their wings slicing through the air with a grace that left her breathless. She couldn’t help but envy their freedom, and a deep longing stirred within her. She yearned to fly like a bird, to experience the world from the heavens above.

For her passion, Kokum crafted her very own pair of wings. They were not real, of course, but they were a testament to her determination and ingenuity. The wings were lightweight, adorned with vibrant forest colors, and fastened securely to her shoulders.

With her newfound wings, Kokum climbed a hill overlooking the village, the anticipation making her heart race. With a deep breath, she leaped into the air, her makeshift wings flapping with all her might. Though she did not soar as high as the birds, for a few fleeting moments, she felt the wind beneath her wings, and the sensation of flight filled her with exhilaration.

Sometimes it’s not about reaching the sky; it’s about the journey you take to get there.

Kokum was known far and wide for her boundless kindness and her deep love for birds. Kokum’s kindness extended beyond just feeding the birds. She nursed injured birds back to health, tenderly caring for them until they were strong enough to return to the sky. One day, while exploring the nearby woods, Kokum came across a small, abandoned bird’s nest. Inside were three fragile eggs, abandoned by their mother. Kokum knew she had to help. She carefully took the eggs home and fashioned a makeshift nest for them in a cozy corner of her room. She kept them warm, turning them gently every day, just like a loving mother bird would.

Days turned into weeks, and soon enough, three tiny chicks hatched from their shells. She dedicated herself to their care, feeding them and teaching them how to fly when they were ready. As the chicks grew and their feathers unfurled, Kokum watched with joy as they took their first flights. With each flutter of their wings, they soared higher and higher, until they disappeared into the vast blue sky. It was a bittersweet moment for Kokum, knowing that they had returned to their true home, but she was content, for she had given them a second chance at life.
